$115 per month

The Little Music Studio uses a tuition fee schedule. $115 per month per student. The calendar for 2025 allows for about 38 lessons through the course of the year. This works out to roughly $36 per 30-minute lesson.

30 minutes per lesson

All lessons are scheduled for 30 minutes. Lessons are back-to-back. Students should expect roughly 28 minutes of instruction and interaction per lesson.

Make-up Lessons

Tuition payments ensure your day and time of lesson - your student’s “seat” in the “classroom”. We cannot make up in-person lessons on a one-to-one time basis. This holds for student absences, planned or unplanned. Scroll down for more detailed information.

Studio Closures

The studio’s calendar can be found here. It shows all days and dates that lessons will and will not be held. The nature of every calendar dictates an uneven distribution of lessons per month, as do summer vacations.

Teacher Absences

Lesson cancelations due to teacher illness will be made up virtually, either pre-recorded instruction and student video submission, or live via Zoom (or like platform).

Complete Policies

This page serves to highlight the guidelines that dictate The Little Music Studio’s policies. The complete policies can be found below.

The Little Music Studio Private Lesson Policies

All students must be local to zip code 75068 *

All students must be the required minimum age (8 for guitar, 6 for piano)

Tuition

The Little Music Studio tuition fees are $115 per month. This holds true whether there are 2, 3, 4, or 5 scheduled lessons in a given month. The Little Music Studio does not charge, assess, or refund "per lesson" at any time.

Lesson Materials

Students are required to have their own paper copies of the method book(s) they will use. The Little Music Studio does not provide students with the required method books or other materials. Guitar students must have an appropriate guitar approved by the teacher. Guitar students must also maintain their guitar with new strings when appropriate. Guitar strings must be replaced at least once every 6 months.

Piano students must have an appropriate instrument to practice at home. All acoustic pianos, whether spinet, upright, or grand, are appropriate. Acoustic toy pianos, of course, are not. Electronic pianos or keyboards must have hammer-action (preferred), weighted (acceptable) keys. Semi-weighted or non-weighted keys are not appropriate for learning the piano and students will not make progress.

All parents agree to provide my student with:

•An appropriate instrument

•The appropriate print materials

Length of Lessons

Lessons are scheduled for 30-minutes back-to-back. Parents should arrive at the studio with enough time to park and enter the building so their child's lesson can begin on time. A student who is ready on time should expect to have roughly 28 minutes of instruction and interaction during their time slot, with the remainder being taken up by entering and exiting the studio.

Student Absences

Tuition guarantees your student’s day and time of lessons. Unfortunately, setting up a second day and time of make-up lesson is not available for our studio. However, the lesson time does belong to you, and will be used to help students stay current even if they are absent. Given proper notice, the studio will accommodate up to two planned absences (such as for vacation) and two un-planned absences (such as for illness) in preparing and sending written and video instruction for the students More information and examples can be found at the bottom of the page.

There will be no tuition reimbursement in part or in full for student absences. Parents should carefully consider their family's schedule before choosing the time and day of their child's lesson.

Teacher Absences

In the event that the teacher's accident, illness, or other event prevents lessons from being held, the missed lesson(s) will be made up within 10 business days digitally, either through pre-recorded instruction and student recorded demonstration or live via Zoom (or like platform). If the teacher cannot accomplish the pre-recorded instruction or live digital lesson, a $40 credit (per teacher-missed lesson) will be applied to the following tuition payment.

Cancellation Policy

Student cancellation of lessons must be submitted 14 calendar days before the next scheduled payment. Your scheduled payment depends on the day you signed up for lessons for your child. The 14 calendar days referenced thusly does NOT mean "14 calendar days before the next month begins". For example, if you sign up for lessons on December 23, 2024, your child's lessons will begin in January. Your payment will be assessed on the 23rd of each month. If you are moving in June and want May to be your last month of lessons, you must submit your cancellation on or before May 9, 2025. (Your April 23, 2025 payment is for May lessons, as your December 23, 2024 payment was for January.) If you tried to submit your cancellation 14 calendar days before June, on May 18, 2025, it would be too late by 9 days and you would still be responsible for June tuition.

Make-Up Instruction

In the event that Make-Up Instruction is warranted, the studio will prepare instructional material and assignments that will be sent to the parents of the student. Such material may include asynchronous written/video instruction. Make-up instruction for qualifying absences will not in-person.

Planned Absences.

The Little Music Studio will make the accommodations detailed below for up to two planned student absences per year. Please notify the studio of any planned absences as soon as possible. At a minimum, parents must notify the studio of the planned absence no less than two weeks prior to the lesson preceding the planned absence. This allows the instructor to help prepare the pace, scope, and breadth of any material needed to send as “Make-Up Instruction” as outlined above. Make-up instruction for planned absences will be delivered no later than the day of the scheduled absence.

Unplanned Absences

The Little Music Studio will make accommodations for up to two unplanned student absences per year given the following conditions are met. The studio must be notified of the unplanned absence a minimum of four hours before their scheduled lesson time. If the student is able to play, the parents can record the student playing their previously assigned music and send it to the studio. The instructor will review the performance and respond with feedback and further assignments or tips as appropriate within two business days of receiving the performance video or record an asynchronous lesson for the student to review when able.

Tuition

Tuition assures your child a day and a time for their lesson - a seat in the class, or like a membership to a gym. Refunds will not be given for lessons missed for planned or unplanned absences. Parents should carefully consider their family schedule along with many other factors in determining if The Little Music Studio meets their needs and if they will be able to abide by the studio’s policies.

Make-Up Lessons

Why a flat-monthly fee instead of per-lesson pricing?

Budgeting a flat monthly fee is easier and more convenient for families, as well a simpler for studios.

Charging tuition monthly is a widespread practice used by about 1/2 of all lesson providers in our region.
